The first buttercup of the year always brings me joy and hope and is always a surprise. I found this one on Monday, February 4th. My mother planted these years ago. They've been there as long as I can remember. Sometimes the real surprise is when they bloom in January. My daughter, Anna, likes to see them in March which is her birth month. Buttercups are the jewel of late winter and hope for sunny days ahead.

First Buttercup
